By popular demand! Columbus Curling Club will be hosting a USA Curling Level 1 Instructor Course on Saturday, March 29, 9AM to approximately 5PM. Lunch will be provided. Register and pay the $75 fee today! This session will be led by Morag Boyd.
Having certified Level 1 instructors will give use more people trained to offer effective, consistent, and safe instruction. And, going through the training and gaining experience as an instructor can help you refine your own technique and support your teammates and friends.
We may try to offer another course next season ahead of the Olympics
To be cerified at the end of the course, you must:
1) Take a basic online First Aid course. Once you have completed it, upload the certification in your MyUSACurling profile. Choose Course Prerequisites from the dropdown menu located in the upper right of your Profile, and add the certification. If you already have First Aid certification through another activity, you can simply upload the documents without needing to take another course. There are a number of online first aid course at no or low cost.
2) Complete the required SafeSport training. You can access it from your MyUSACurling profile—you'll find a link to Center for SafeSport Training on the left. Click on Add Center for SafeSport Training if you need to take the course. If you have already completed SafeSport Training, check to see if you need to take a Refresher course.
